This Star sailing adventure gets an early departure from Port Allen on the west shore of Kauai. It will start with a short briefing and introduction as you depart from Port Allen. You will first head west and then turn to the north to reach the Na Pali Coast. As you head towards the Na Pali Coast, you will see views of Niihau, Polihale, and the ridges of Kokee. A morning departure generally means you will have calmer sea conditions and lighter winds. It also virtually ensures an encounter with a massive pod of Hawaiian Spinner dolphins that can be found along the Kauai coastline most mornings.
We generally take a nearshore route up the entire Na Pali Coast and then turn to sail downwind a bit offshore so you can enjoy the panoramic views as well. On the Na Pali Coast, you will see spectacular sea cliffs, numerous waterfalls, and several lava tubes. Kauai is the oldest of the main Hawaiian islands, and this spectacular carved coastline is the result of millions of years of exposure to wind, waves, and rainfall. Our crew are extremely knowledgeable about the history and legends of the ancient civilization that once inhabited these verdant valleys, and they are happy to share this knowledge with you!
On most days, our Hawaiian trade winds blow out of the east, which makes for a perfect downwind sail once we have reached our turnaround point on the Na Pali. Once we reach our turnaround point, the crew will power down the boat's twin diesel engines, hoist the mainsail, and unfurl the jib, setting you up to relax and enjoy the beautiful views on your way to one of our favorite remote snorkel spots.
After a relaxing sail, we'll tie up at a mooring at our snorkel spot so that you can get in the water to swim, snorkel, or play. You are also welcome to remain on the boat if you wish to simply relax. The onboard chef will serve a delicious lunch freshly prepared in our galley (kitchen) along with beer and wine. Alcoholic beverages will be available only after you are done with your in-water activities.
After lunch, we head back down the west side of Kauai in the direction of Port Allen. We time our tour to return to Port Allen at 1:30 pm.

Winter Alert: The island of Kauai is known for its rugged beauty and its unique ocean conditions. The same extreme elements that have shaped the landscape sometimes prevent us from comfortably exploring the Na Pali Coast, and in-water activities are always weather and ocean conditions dependent. Your captain will continually monitor the weather and will be receiving reports about local ocean conditions right up to your departure time. We will notify you approximately 90 minutes prior to departure via a text to the number you provided at booking to advise you of any destination changes the weather and/or ocean conditions may make necessary. Wherever we go, it will be a super fun day on the water!
